DÉJÀ VU

Confronting the Cultural Distortion Caused by Communism

A Memoir

Epilogue

The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the course of history. This unexpected event did happen, and the haze is still unclear. But sometimes, a drop of water can also reflect the vast sky. A few years ago, when I was considering writing outside of my academic domain, an alumnus gave me a title “My Life: From the CCP’s Labor Camp to Yale”. He thought that such a life story would stand out from the inspirational bestsellers. In fact, I never intended to write a personal memoir as he imagined. This book is just a workaround for jumping out from the dilemma that my warnings about cultural distortion have not worked well for 30 years. I must change my writing style by weaving together scattered stories to sound the same alarm.

After the ecstasy of breaking free from the shackles of the CCP, a sense of déjà vu kept coming to me. The spirits of the rightists who were forced laborers in the jungle and the coal mines with me are calling out to me. I can also feel the silent entrustments of other wronged souls who were tortured by the CCP. There is nothing special about us who died in the hell or escape back to earth, but we always can recognize the same devil behind different masks. I have recognized a powerful force in the upper class of Western societies shares the same way of thinking and code of conduct as the CCP. For 30 years, I have constantly warned the academic and political circles to be vigilant against these communist threats from both domestic and foreign sources. My warnings have gone with the winds. Sometimes loneliness and confusion came upon me, so this book emerges. I have no intention of begging for sympathy for what I’ve suffered since I was 18. Hopefully, readers will use their own observation and thinking to find the answer and the world will find a way out before it’s too late.

It will not surprise me at all if rigorous investigation proves that the primary origin of the COVID-19 pandemic was a man-made disaster. I have been there and known what the CCP did and said before and after the great Chinese Famine. The evil operations behind the two crimes separated by over 60 years are the same in my eyes. Those evil conspiracies recently behind the war in Ukraine and the war in the Middle East are the same in my eyes as well. Regrettably, the international community has failed to track down the culprits behind the pandemic and the conspiracy behind recent regional wars. From the beginning, the CCP has always regarded the United States as its number one enemy. On the contrary, U.S. leaders have never stopped adopting a policy of appeasement towards the CCP. Should we still rely on such a policy and believe in the CCP? We’ve been there, done that…

The process by which communism distorts human civilization always has a seductive look. It has completed the cultural genocide of the Chinese civilization in mainland China within a century. It also distorts Western culture while numbing its victims. Evil has pushed human civilization into a corner while making so many people still not even realize it. Over the past century, the CCP’s tyranny has resulted in tens of millions of deaths and countless stories filled with blood and tears. What makes me sadder and angrier than these blood and tears is that communism has destroyed traditional Chinese culture and distorted the souls of hundreds of millions of Chinese people. The cultural distortion reduces many people to puppets, slaves, and zombies without self-dignity. These are the abusers who harm normal people and harm each other. That’s how evil works.

Abusers are callous in hurting others and ultimately become victims themselves. I realized this when I was young and crawling at the bottom of a coal mine. The man who beat me and nearly killed me was the same man who risked his life to save me from a mining accident a year later. Doug was originally a plain and kind-hearted miner, but he became an abuser possessed by evil, and his soul was also harmed. When he was the abuser, he completely lost his mind, only believed in evil incitement, and had no sympathy for the suffering of his victims. When the goodness deep in his soul awakens, he risks his life to atone for the sins made by evil. Later, Doug became my friend. It honored me and I’ve never touched the scars on his soul. I was saddened by his untimely passing.

The slogan of “class consciousness” concealed by the false moral halo made Doug, who was kind by nature, lose his judgment from common sense. This is how evil brainwashing began. In this way, there were also many people in the upper echelons of society who were possessed by evil and committed evil deeds. They all eventually became victims of the evil regime of the CCP: they were killed by their comrades, or they suffered from regrets in their later years. In all political movements under the CCP, stories of informing on each other, trapping each other, and killing each other among schoolmates, colleagues, and neighbors can be seen everywhere. What is even more tragic is that such stories also happen between parents and children, between teachers and students, and between husband and wife. These countless human tragedies and moral disasters have been commonplace in China for a century. The same vicious events have begun in the United States and have worsened at an incredible speed in recent years. The false moral halo covering the new slogan “identity politics” now has a stronger Western color. The hypocrisy of the radical-left elitists, who are the major abusers in this new brainwashing, is even more disgusting.

These human tragedies and moral disasters that I have witnessed throughout my entire life show how evil operates and how it succeeds. Since my previous succinct warnings did not work, this book had to weave the fragmented stories together to reveal the lessons that history and reality teach us all:

  • The core of the war between good and evil lies in culture. In the past two centuries, the most successful distorted “culture” is the Communism, and the most effective cultural virus is “class consciousness” or “identity politics”. The evil divides society through distorted “culture” and uses it to kidnap and possess individuals.
  • The CCP is an international criminal group that commits genocide and crimes against humanity and is the leader of all evil forces in the contemporary world.
  • The “long march through the institutions” of Communism has won unprecedented victories in the West. The main battlefield of the war has shifted to the United States, and the 2024 election is the decisive battle. The success or failure of the MAGA movement will determine the fate of mankind.
  • Western radical-left elitists share the same arguments, principles, and codes of conduct as the CCP. Unfolding eight strong similarities between the two have revealed their common political framework to control and enslave people.
  • Based on the definition of “cultural genocide” given in this book, the transition from cultural distortion to cultural genocide forms the core of the transition from socialism to outright communist tyranny. This transformation, which occurs at four levels, was fully completed in mainland China in the last century and is speeding up rapidly in the United States.
  • The truth can only be discovered by looking at history and society through a more intimate and personal lens, based on common sense. Habitual partisanship and commercial narratives blind people and can muddy the water when push comes to shove.
  • Misunderstandings about Chinese culture caused many troubles for the West over a century. Promoting the deep integration of Christian culture and Eastern traditional cultures will greatly strengthen the righteous power in the decisive battle between good and evil.
  • Freedom is very fragile. Individuals who are on the periphery during major social and political shifts can survive with dignity only by facing evil head-on.

I am not telling a story of victimhood. In a sense, it is a celebration of the human capacity to rise above circumstances, exceeding expectations and carving out their own paths.

The crisis of human civilization being distorted has indeed emerged and is worsening at a dizzying speed. This world will become increasingly turbulent in the coming years. The key is to peel off the seductive mask of the distorted “culture”. Only then do truths and solutions emerge from increasingly complex situations and become clearer and simpler. Trying to remind people who have lived in peace and leisure for generations to rethink the world they thought they knew so well; this book is surely not flattering. But I have no choice. I am even more compelled to do so when some people deliberately create the illusion of historical memory. I must do so while commercial narratives and habitual partisanship have plagued modern society.

In the darkest time before dawn, miracles continue to happen, and God is blessing Donald Trump and saving America. But even if the 2024 election achieves the best results, the road ahead will still be long and difficult…
