Confronting the Cultural Distortion Caused by Communism

Chapter 6 The Choice Between Freedom and Servitude

Is There Any Hope for A Self-Destructive America?

At this critical moment in history, current administration is putting this great country and the American people in extreme danger. Defining the utterly absurd falsehood of global warming as a major threat has spawned a string of self-harm and even suicide policies. Returning to the Paris Agreement, to the Iran Agreement, give up energy independence have handed over the diplomatic initiative to international evil forces. The disastrous retreat from Afghanistan after the victory in the war on terror made the United States the laughingstock of the world. Panic anti-epidemic policies, reliance on government welfare, and government-led high-cost economic policies have led to inflation and supply chain crises; the possibility of a financial crisis has also emerged on the horizon. A series of government measure that encourage mobs and undermine the rule of law have led to a spike in crime. The massive influx of illegal immigrants and drugs from the southern border has degraded the United States to the point of being inferior to third-world sovereign states. In just one year, this administration is causing our great country to decline rapidly. Is there any hope for such a self-harming America?

Without finding the root cause and solving the problem, the United States will never recover, and the world will never have peace.

The Phantom Behind Time Retardation

……

Inspirations from Walt Whitman

……

Current pandemic has paved the way for communism to attack the United States and laid the foundation for the CCP to strengthen its tyranny. The CCP virus is forcing nations and individuals to make choices. Whether it is China or the West, everyone at all levels of society must make a choice. This choice, passive or active, varies from person to person and changes. Each of these individual choices is inconspicuous and often overlooked. But the statistic outcome of the interaction of these different choices in a dynamic process affects history and determines everyone’s future.

An Inevitable Choice

……

……

In the fall of 2014, I hosted a special seminar. This was also the only time in my life to host a seminar by myself and was outside of my academic research fields. It had a theme of “Freedom and Choice”.  The top half of the first slide shown: “Nothing is more wonderful than the art of being free, but nothing is harder to learn how to use than freedom.”      ― Alexis de Tocqueville

In speeches and books on similar topics in the West, people often quote this golden sentence by Alexis de Tocqueville. I did the same thing while developing it from a unique perspective.

So, the lower half of my first slide in the seminar was:

  • Freedom: The human societies have been experimenting with it for thousands of years but still not sure when can get it fully; The individuals have spent their entire lives pursuing it, but still not sure how to taste it.
  • Freedom: learn it from irony and paradox; act from the secular lives; enjoy it within the process.
  • Comprehension comes from the inside at this moment; Those who master the selves are always invincible.

……

Historically, the dreams of freedom mostly turned into nightmares. I, once an eight-year-old boy, was extremely excited by the slogan of “liberty, equality, fraternity” that Chinese socialist believers shouted at sea. But in actual life, the change inspired by that slogan has turned into graveyards in France and in China. The French finally realized their dream of freedom after a long period of difficulties, but now they are experiencing a recent crisis again. Mainland China has been in dark for near a century. People fight for freedom, but they rarely know what freedom is and how to achieve it. How will the French, who have tasted the sweetness, protect the hard-won freedom now? For the first time in thousands of years, the United States successfully completed a human society’s experiment on freedom. The founding fathers knew very well: the republic they established represented a bold experiment; the government they established contained a vibrant faith and pioneered an original exploration. This exploration would create and maintain a society that can develop reasonably and guarantee freedom.

Dialogues Between Observers

……

Over the course of a century, people fleeing communist countries have written many memoirs. Western readers pay sympathy and gain relief or even a sense of superiority. Some people take for granted the peace and leisure they have enjoyed for so long. Faced with a series of contemporary emergencies, do people need to hear thought-provoking voices relevant to their own lives? Can democracy system alone ensure that citizens have enough force resist pressure from authority? Hopefully, this book will remind readers to think more deeply about the surrounding things that threaten the fate of their children and grandchildren.

……

For a long time, the CCP has frequently accused foreign forces of interfering in China’s internal affairs. In fact, the entire process from the CCP’s establishment to build its tyranny resulted from foreign hostile forces interfering in China’s internal affairs. It was under the direct intervention of the Soviet Union that the CCP, a bandit and hooligan gang, illegally seized power by force in mainland China. After a series of bloody political campaigns from 1949 to the Cultural Revolution, the CCP physically wiped-out tens of millions of Chinese. Even more evil, they completed the cultural genocide against the Chinese nation in mainland China during that period.

Global Choice for Hong Kong plus Taiwan

Chinese civilization comes from a special ‘nation’ formed by the fusion of multiple ethnic groups and races. After thousands of years of turmoil, she did not disappear like other ancient civilizations. This is an unusual cultural phenomenon and can always build highly stable society. The outside world knows little or completely misunderstands her cultural treasures.

……

Now is the time for the free world to correct its historical mistakes and take a series of powerful countermeasures to liquidate the CCP. Countries around the world must restore recognition to the ROC, the legitimate government of the Chinese nation in Taiwan. As one of the main founding countries of the United Nations, the ROC’s legal status in the United Nations must be restored. In doing so, it is certainly helping the ROC; but the free world is also redeeming ourselves.

Wisdom and Courage Created by Irony and Paradox

……

This human quest for a better society has lasted for thousands of years; it happened not only in the West but also in the East. Modern Western society has a fast development relatively, with a successful experiment completed in the United States 244 years ago. Eastern societies, especially China and Japan, deeply admire and study the success of the West. But a very few of elitists in the West have long regarded the success of society as their own, and despised Eastern societies. A few key figures believe China is an ignorant nation with no philosophy or even history. This blind hubris, coupled with the appeasement policy of the past 70 years to curry favor with the CCP and marginalize the ROC, has led to long-term mistakes in Western countries’ China policy. This also leads to a lack of understanding of the real traditional Chinese culture in Western society.

……

Most of the ideas that shaped early America came from Christians and Jews. But this relationship is creative and not excludes nourishment from other cultures. In fact, the traditional culture of the Chinese nation has great potential to accept and even consolidate American values, but it has been neglected for a long time. It is the time to reacquaint when the decisive battle between Good and Evil has now entered a critical stage.

Sun Tzu once wrote in “Art of War”: “The supreme art of war is to conquer the enemy without conducting a war.” When this book repeatedly explores the huge potential of the deep integration of the two great cultures, it also implies that mastering this supreme art of war is not impossible.
